Exploring High-Impact Educational Practices Using Scholarly and Creative Teaching

The conference theme, “Exploring High-Impact Educational Practices Using Scholarly and Creative Teaching,” encourages us, as individuals and as a field, to examine and highlight those strategies of high-impact educational practices that promote scholarly and creative teaching in highly effective instruction.

Do you have an exceptional strategy to share with an audience of instructors seeking to excel?  Presenters are encouraged to engage their audience for approximately 45 minutes through a demonstration, so preference will be given to those submissions that specify how this engagement will be provided.  The conference will hold an opening plenary session to focus on those strategies that constitute high-impact educational practices.

Threads: High-Impact Practices (final tracks to be determined by subject and quality of submissions):

  • First-Year Experiences
  • Common Intellectual Experiences
  • Learning Communities
  • Writing-Intensive Courses
  • Collaborative Assignments and Projects
  • Undergraduate Research
  • Diversity/Global Learning
  • Service-Learning/Community-Based Learning
  • Internships
  • Capstone Courses and Projects

We welcome submissions by individuals and groups from the Commonwealth, across the country, and around the world. Submit proposals online. Please remove any identifying information, including institution, from the abstract and description.

Review of Proposals Criteria

  • Clarity and coherence of the session description
  • Specific examples of active engagement of participants
  • Likelihood session will provide useful information, skills, ideas
  • Contributions to new or innovative practices
  • Relevance to conference theme and CPE foci
