Details

Details are a critical, yet often misunderstood piece of the writing process. While many writers believe they are giving enough details, more often than not, they are simply giving statements. For example, stating “She was a lovely girl” give your reader an idea that she was enjoyable and amicable, possibly beautiful, but the statement does not delve into necessary specifics to make your reader understand why she is a lovely girl. Is she lovely because she volunteers at an animal shelter? Is she lovely because she has perfectly blonde hair and crystal blue eyes? Is she lovely because she is compassionate? The details writers often keep inside their heads are the details most readers need to understand your statements!
