Noel Studio Collaborates with History Class on Creative Projects
Representatives from the Noel Studio collaborated with Dr. Christiane Taylor’s HIS 300A students this fall to envision, refine, and showcase their creative products based on the theme of immigration. Students had an orientation to learn about how they might integrate creative thinking into their research before having two creative project checkpoints to discuss their research, concepts, and progress. Students were also encouraged to have consultations to discuss and refine their drafts before showcasing their creative projects in the Noel Studio’s Discovery Classroom through presentations and discussion-oriented displays.
The creative projects focused on historical topics from three time periods: 1830-1860, 1880-1924, and Post-1960. This semester, students produced research-based digital artifacts such as documentaries, social media sites, and websites. Other projects included interactive artifacts like models, collages, and plays.
The creative projects encouraged students to engage the invention process from multiple perspectives and communicate their research in engaging, interactive, and convincing ways.
You can learn more about the Noel Studio/HIS 300A collaboration at the QEP’s celebration of critical and creative thinking to be held in the Crabbe Library on February 7 from 11:30am-1:30pm.
