Noel Studio Hosts WGS Poster Showcase
On Thursday, April 11, the Noel Studio, in collaboration with Women and Gender Studies, hosted the program’s poster showcase. Under the guidance of instructor and former Noel Studio consultant LeAnn Stokes, students worked in small groups to design posters that communicate gender issues from a variety of different countries.
In many cases, students incorporated visual elements such as images, charts, and graphs complemented by textual explanations. Students visiting the Noel Studio browsed the posters, posing questions and ideas as they learned from the WGS students’ research. Several students even included multimedia elements—such as videos and slideshows—into their poster presentations. Students created an inviting environment by offering food from the countries they researched like cardamon cookies and tea.
The Noel Studio regularly conducts poster-design workshops and consultations, teaching students and other members of the university community the elements of effective design and how to communicate information visually. In addition, Noel Studio staff members have collected a variety of resources for students that are archived online and freely available to students.
Students are encouraged to visit the Noel Studio for consultations as they design their posters by scheduling an appointment online through WCOnline.
