Popular Noel Studio Workshops Available for Fall 2013 Semester
Noel Studio workshops support hundreds of students and faculty each semester. These workshops have become increasingly popular among writing and communication students at all levels, from freshmen to graduate students.
Noel Studio workshops, usually scheduled in the Discovery Classroom or conference room, encourage active learning. Sessions follow an interactive approach of large and small-group discussion and peer-to-peer facilitation through supportive, objective feedback from highly trained facilitators.
The Noel Studio’s approach follows studio pedagogy, originally coined in the 2012 anthology Cases on Higher Education Spaces, for its values of critical and creative thinking, information fluency, integrative collaboration, interaction among students, visual communication, and creation of dynamic active-learning environments.
Workshops are tailored to the goals of the class in collaboration with the instructor. Through workshops, students learn:
· Strategies for effective written and oral communication
· Tactics for stronger self-editing and proofreading practices
· Approaches for communicating to specific audiences
· Strategies for gathering sound information
Members of the EKU community can request fall 2013 workshops online in advance.
