Special Issue on Course-Embedded Writing Support Programs Launches

The Noel Studio’s Director, Dr. Russell Carpenter, collaborated with Drs. Scott Whiddon, Transylvania University, and Kevin Dvorak, Nova Southeastern University, to publish a special double issue of Praxis: A Writing Center Journal, a popular national peer-reviewed journal, on course-embedded writing support programs in writing centers.

The special double issue features 17 articles authored and coauthored by writing center directors and administrators from around the country. Articles take research-oriented perspectives to analyze course-embedded programs as they look to the future of what these initiatives can become.

EKU’s own Noel Studio has launched a successful writing fellows initiative that embeds writing fellows in ENG 101 courses. Writing fellows attend the ENG 101 courses to which they’re assigned and consult students from those courses in one-one-one and small-group sessions each week. During the fall 2014 semester, the Noel Studio coordinated 15 writing fellow sections.

Readers can access a version of the special double issue online or download a copy of the special issue
